What Parents Are Saying About The School

from Romi and Kapil Dev parents of Amiya (Class of 2000)
Kapil Dev is a veritable legend of Indian cricket.

"It gives us great pleasure to write this message on the occasion of Toddlers Train silver jubilee. It will always hold very special memories for us as our only child Amiya, born to us very late in our married life, began her education here.

"In fact her first day in school will be ingrained in our memories – we were more nervous than she was! There were a thousand question and doubts in our minds about the safety, well being and growth of our child. However, each query was patiently heard and responded to.

"Our child who was very shy and reserved slowly began to discover a new way of life. After the initial hiccups, which she overcame with the support of the staff, she began to view the time in school as an entertainment slot.

"The colours, the shapes, the music, the reading were all put to the children in such an ingenious manner that they did not realize how much they were learning while they thought they were playing.

"That fortunately, set the trend for her coming school years. When she moved on to regular school there was no dread of what was coming. It was established in her mind that school was a place one would enjoy in. In made life that much easier!

"I must say that at the time, like all parents, we were also very keen to pick the correct school. The ambience had to be right, the way of teaching correct and above all the teachers had to have a love for the children.

"We weighed our pros and cons and at the end of the day, the proximity of Toddlers Train to our home, won hands down over all the other schools. Distance was the advantage we had started out with, but there was a lot more we had to be grateful for by the time our daughter moved on."

Prathibha is a very eminent Bharat Natyam dancer.

"I can’t thank you enough for the wonderful experience my children had at Toddlers Train.

"You have taught them the wonder of books and the miracles of nature;
the charm of winning and the courage to acccept failure;
the joys of sharing and working together;
the value of patience and perseverance;
to have faith in themselves and believe in the goodness of others;
To stand by their beliefs; and embrace what the world has to offer!

"Once again, THANK YOU!"

from Lata and Kamal Talwar parents of Vaishali (Class of 1998) and Raghav (Class of 2001)
Lata is a medical doctor and Kamal is M.D. of Super Seals India Ltd.

"Our daughter Vaishali was admitted into Toddlers Train prior to the normal age for admission because Lata would have been away to Mumbai for the delivery of our second child, when the process of admission was to take place.

"Just speaking to Rashmi Gulhati was enough to convince her about the situation. Absolutely no hint of any patronisinng attitude was evident, unlike another institution where we felt they were doing us a favour by admitting our child.

"We felt extremely secure and confident in leaving Vaishali in her care, inspite of the young age of 1 year and 9 months.

HOW IT HAS HELPED OUR CHILDREN

"Learning alphabets, poetry, developing motor skills, stage appearances and sporting events apart, the most significant part of their personality development was the experience of warmth and creation of confidence.

"One instance that shall remain with us forever was when our daughter Vaishali was indisposed at the time of the Christmas carnival at the school. Upon Rashmi’s persuasion, we took her to school to enable her to experience the festivities.

"During the half hour, which was all Vaishali was allowed to remain at School, Rashmi personally carried her in her arms and made her enjoy each and every ride arranged at the premises. Such warmth holds Vaishali in good stead till this day, when she is past eleven years of age.

"Raghav cried relentlessly for two months every morning before going to school. One day it all changed magically and he would actually cry when there was no school.

"Lata’s long absence from home, due to a series of surgeries at Mumbai, did not take its toll on the children. Toddlers Train helped them cope up with the situation.

"We all know that the foundations of academics can perhaps be laid by many, but not everyone can make children absorb knowledge through a process of mentally invigorating activities.

"Both our children were extremely shy and timid. One could never imagine that they could stand on stage, let alone perform facing a large audience. Vaishali’s crying before the stage show and Raghav’s sudden wailing at curtain call, would make us squirm in our seats.

"The constant reminder by Rashmi that we parents should not seek perfection in the child’s performance but rather “let them be”, enabled both our children to gain immense confidence by the time they left Toddlers Train.

"Now, whenever we see Vaishali and Raghav on stage, in their respective schools, we remember Rashmi and Toddlers Train with fondness.

"Individuality of thought, curiosity to learn and expression of confidence are the strong traits visible in our children today.

"This, along with the warmth they received from all members of Toddlers Train, has imbued them with what we term as “The Sunshine Attitude”. This alone has given them the ability to overcome cynicism and resentment which, unfortunately, they see around themselves even at such a young age. After all, it is a competitive world."

from Kavita and Sudhir Nayar parents of Mandira (Class of 1984)
Sudhir is G.M., Corporate Affairs with Hindustan Levers.

"Way back in 1982 when it was time for our daughter to go nursery school we went through the usual exercise that all anxious parents do. We looked at varous alternatives available and finally decided on Toddlers Train.

"The school was in its formative years as indeed was Mandira. It taught her many things but the the most relevant were:

  1. To have the self-confidence to form relationships. This was particularly important, as Mandira is an only child.
  2. To get interested in different aspects of life and today she owes painting as a hobby to her school days.
  3. Her basics of English and love of the language started in school and today while she is an upcoming journalist a lot of credit for this goes to her school.

"Today when Mandira is praised as a bright and balanced person, we do realise that a great deal of this credit goes to her formative years and, particularly, to Toddlers Train."
